Not at all! I know a lot of artists using Instagram nowadays, I guess it's not age-dependent xD I might give it a try, though I still associate Instagram with photos rather than art.

try out everything and make a report please :) There is indeed something unhealthy going on with DA. All kinds of awesome artists leave... :(

I most certainly will if I have the time to do it! My plan is to test it out with the first chapter of TerrApocalypse and see how many views/follows/comments/favs etc I get per site.

Yeah, it seems to get emptier with the month really... I kind of miss the old times here!

How far are you with the first chapter then?

and gosh, yes... DA should give this place an upgrade... Soon. Or simply pay attention more.

That's difficult to say. I have many versions of the first chapter on paper, but still no version that I feel is right.

I remember a year ago they advertised about DA's new profile page look, one that looked super professional, also including a commissions page and all. I was really hoping they would've launched it by now! I also hope they will finally put some more effort in IP banning all those porn and hate accounts, because they are flooding the place. They really need to get their reputation up!

I would leave that chapter alone and start working on the next ones. If you have the rest of the story, maybe you know what beginning feels right ;) I never planned a prologue either, it just... happened. Actually, there are some people who start with the ending and work their way backwards!

wow, they really take their time then... or they just stopped caring...

Actually, that's the best advice I've had in a long time, I guess I'll do just that! Working backwards seems like the way to go here, or at least for a bit...

And yeah, who knows? I hope now that Wix is in play it will speed up a little bit.

doesn't have to start all the way at the end, of course. If you know a midway point, you can start there too.

Yeah haha, the midway point is my most solid point in the story! Nothing has changed there at least.

I have been using Tumblr a lot more lately. I have had no bad experiences with it. Of course there is a lot of you know what-kind of blogs, but it is easy to ignore them. I have heard that some people there are not nice, but I have no personal experiences with them. Also I have been interacting with nice people a lot more there than here in last years. Of course that probably has a lot to do where you are active, but still. Don't really have many attachments to this place anymore. It is a pity since I really liked it here before.

I'll definitely give it a try then! How do you actually interact on Tumblr? It doesn't have a comment system, right?

It seems like times change. I'll definitely not leave DA, but I also feel like I need something else next to it. It's just not what it was like before!

Interacting there is defineteky as easy as in here but there has been more option coming. You can send messages to other people, not just asks anymore, a bit like chat. You can also reply to people's post without needing to reblog, kind of like comment but answering to those is not as easy as in here.

Yeah. About your original post. I would like if there were other art sites like this one, but nothing seems to be even close. It is really pity how DA has been lately, so many shit posts and many people I watched and write with have left or even disappeared.

Sounds like they made some progress over the years then! I really disliked having to reblog posts to comment on it.

And exactly, nothing comes close to that feeling here years ago. I see more and more trolls on this website, and more and more fetish accounts, and it's ruining the whole atmosphere. Half of the people I interacted very often with have disappeared, but luckily the other half is still left! So it's not like I'm having a bad or lonely time here ;D But nowadays on DA, it also seems more difficult meeting more awesome people.

Yeah! but unfortunately it is still a bit tricky to answer to comments you might get. I also like DA becausse people are more likely make comments here.

yes I know. I had very good time here back then, got my best online friend from here. There is still many awesome artists and all that here but something seems so different now. Truthfully, I have little reason to be here anymore. I'm not really gone but don't feel like being very active anymore.

Yeah, I love the comment system of DA and have yet to see a similar one on another art site! Tapastic (Tapas) uses the same comment system, but that's only for comics :'D

I see your point! I'm happy to still see your art here though <3

Comment system is definetely good, you can even chat with people there and it doesn't bother others.
Yeah that is too bad ^^'

Thanks!

Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter, Tapas. Everyone's been really nice to me in all those places but maybe I just haven't been exposed to the nasty sides yet.

I like those places better than dA because they're... somewhat less stressful to use? I mean, I don't feel bad when I post doodles in those places whereas dA feels so professional and serious that I only pick my best pieces to upload here. And those other places are so much faster, nicer and simpler to use. I don't know, maybe dA's interface is just too complicated for me? x'D

What you said about dA turning into a dating site, haha, I met my boyfriend here sooooo yeah xD (a friend of mine started using dA as a dating site because she was very desperate to find a boyfriend at one point... luckily she got over it)

Alright, so many people tell me to give Tumblr another chance, so let's do that then :') I see your point of DA being professional, and that's exactly why I like it. It is sometimes complicated, but it feels like I can build up my professional portfolio here <3

Oh lol! It is true then! xD I didn't know that! I haven't met any boyfriend on DA, but I sure made a lot of friends here, which I really like <3 It feels super nice to know so many people from places all around the world. I would love to make a world-tour one day and visit everyone! And wow, so it is used as a dating site then, huh? I felt like there are more people doing that, but it is so not the site to do that... Glad she got over it, I guess Tinder is the way to go now?

Welcome to Finland, yayyy.
I guess I treat Tapas as my professional portfolio nowadays..? Because if you want to show your skills as a comic artist, well, what could be better? xD

someone in another comment mentioned amino and while i don't personally use it for posting my art (i just have my own little community on there for funsies)  but it seems pretty popular and active! and its just really cute and nice xD i like the way its set up. the only issue is its only for mobile so getting your art from computer to the app would be slightly more work than normal maybe? but possibly worth the effort!

Other social media places that I post my art would be twitter and mastodon ( mastodon.social/

I havent been on tumblr for ages cuz all the posts i kept seeing were just negative thing after negative thing and all anyone ever said about it was "nobody is doing anything about this and you should FEEL BAD" :''''') so no more tumblr for me omg. besides it always felt like it was hard to get noticed on there which sorta defeats the purpose of posting your art yea?

Yeah, I will definitely give Amino a look, and I hadn't heard of mastodon either, so thanks!

I know right? I might give it another try, but geez... The only way of really getting noticed by tons of people on Tumblr is by making fanart, but when you do make fanart, you get all the SJWs and haters on your back 'because omg you didn't draw this character as fat as they are in the show' and 'omg you should die because you drew their skin colour different' and all that kind of bullshit.

I guess I'm just looking for a site where I can build up my portfolio, really, and it seems DA is still the best for that.

oh wow ive never seen anyone on there say stuff like that (except like stuff from ages ago that people still talked about and frowned upon??? )  :0 just mainly every post seemed to be framed in a negative way rather than positive (for example: people saying theres no hope etc, instead of finding the good in something)  and then seeing all that as a constant stream really wore down on me u-u

but mastodon is pretty new i think? its a bit like twitter i guess

but that being said i think DA is pretty much the only place thats specifically made for art, which is sad considering how its slowly getting worse :C I know alot of non artist people (and some artists too ngl) I've met irl seem to view it negatively D:

But also i know many people make their own websites for portfolio purposes! so that could be a good option as well c: also you'd be able to fully customize it! that is part of the appeal of have a tumblr i think? its somewhat like having your own website but using it cuts out a lot of the difficulty in formatting your own site.

but theres plenty of other sites that allow you your own blog! stuff like blogspot and wordpress are what i tend to see artists that I've followed as they left DA use. with things like that though you have to take more time advertising yourself because theres no system to recommend you to others.

people also use instagram too but ive never gotten around to making one myself so i have no clue how things are like over there ouo;;

It didn't happen to me personally, but from what I've seen, hoo boy!

True, DA is still the king of art sites. And I don't mean to be completely negative about it, I still love it a lot! I'm just already looking into options next to DA, also for in the future.

It's definitely a great idea to build my own website, I'll look into that as well! <3

Yeah, it's not like it's deserted or anything, just so much more quiet than before!

Oh, and in no way I meant that the community here is now "bad" to me or anything <3 I still pretty much love it, but can't bear to check the '24 hour popular' page for example!

True, I've come to the same conclusion. It seems like art is more 'scattered' over the internet as before. 10 years ago, there was only DA, but now it's mostly spread out over Tumblr, Twitter, FB, DA, and Artstation.

Tumblr and Facebook. I managed to rearrange both of them to the point where I don't have to meet any SJW and similar scum. So what I watch on Tumblr are art blogs, porn, model agencies, movie blogs, Brendaniel and TastefullyOffensive and I'm happy there. No drama, no million made up genders, no racism, just piece and porn.
On Facebook, I only follow my actual friends and then meme groups, bird and doggo related groups and some book and music clubs.

Comicfury is great for publishing comic, for instance, but not for reading any. ^^

I could give Tumblr another try, maybe as long as I don't post fanart there I will keep the SJWs away (because I think that scum is mostly related to fandoms).

Thanks for the tip, I didn't know Comicfury!
