Description

This is a commission for queenofeagles of her character Morgan! I'm super super super happy with this piece, as I love the wings and colouring xD My screen keeps messing with the colours though, there's supposed to be lots of purple and red tints in the shading and sky.

Thanks for commissioning me, it was awesome!

This is great! I love how the sunset lighting makes her and her wings seem really majestic, which goes really well with her confident crossed arms and her looking straight at you with that smile like 'sup, betch' xD. (dunno if that was the intent <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/let…" width="15" height="15" alt=":P" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="395" title=":P (Lick)"/>)

The anatomy of the face is a bit off.. The shaping of her face is really unbalanced, as in her cheek on the left is fatter and sags lower. If you flip the image horizontally, you'll be able to notice it better (monosnap.com/file/FuOReAIOCrwY…). Once you look at it flipped that way, you might notice other things about the face that's off too. The nose isn't symmetrical, and the eyebrows don't start at the same height. For the clothing, I'm not sure why the sleeves would bulge out like that below her elbows. They should just fall straight down.

The anatomy of the wings isn't correct either - they aren't that thin where they connect to the body, although I'm not sure if you intended for them to be that way - they are fantastical after all. If you wanted to go for a more realistic anatomy, I would suggest looking at tutorials on how to draw bird wings.

For the lighting, your value range is pretty nice and I like how you incorporated the sky's purple into the shading. However, it's not that detailed, for the face especially. Despite the shading, the face still looks pretty flat, and that's because you didn't really shade any of the lighter areas. For example, the tip of the nose should be a bit brighter, and the bottom of the cheeks should be a bit brighter because they curve up (and I believe your light source is coming from below?)

Aside from the things you need to work on for anatomy and lighting, this piece is pretty eye catching. The colours work well with eachother and the general majestic/glorious feeling is there - and that's always important in a drawing, to get the mood and feeling right. Good job on this! I hope this helps <3
